| The 2012 London Olympics is accompanied by the Cultural Olympiad, and Reading Opens Up invited artists to participate by responding to words reflecting the Olympic and Paralympic values. Arjeea21 is showing some of these reponses in the newly restored Battle Library. Built in 1908 as the first Carnegie Library in Reading, it is a grade two listed building that served as a hospital in WW1 and an air-raid depot in WW2. It continues to serve the community in many ways - sometimes quiet and serene, and sometimes bursting with activities and people of all ages..
